Escape from Mao's Terror

From 1966 to 1976 the so-called Cultural Revolution in China throws an entire nation into violent and catastrophic turmoil. Millions are displaced tortured or executed under Mao Zedong's ruthless regime. Suffering persecution for his religious beliefs and family connections abroad a young doctor named Qing Zeng is forced to flee. He makes two failed attempts at escape to Hong Kong. Finally at the peak of the Cultural Revolution and at the risk of losing his life he eventually makes a heart-pounding escape alone to North Vietnam and manages to survive in the rural countryside for seven long years. But ultimately he is forcibly repatriated back to China. is the moving story of one man's struggle to escape the place he used to call home and finally find freedom.
