<h3><strong>IN THE NEWLY FORMED COMMUNIST STATE OF YUGOSLAVIA OPPRESSION POVERTY AND CRUELTY ARE INESCAPABLE...</strong></h3><p></p><p>Raj Krizic understands there is no future for him in Yugoslavia beneath the iron fist of the Communist's rule which enforces Party membership above all else condemning those opposed to starvation.</p><p></p><p>As he begins his adult life at eighteen Raj is confronted with a decision that will impact his freedom forever: enter compulsory military service for the despotic state he despises or flee the life and land he has always known.</p><p></p><p>With a friend by his side and a brother already ahead of him Raj escapes the oppressive state travelling northward toward the border of Italy.</p><p></p><p>Freeing himself from the chains of his former life is one thing but there are greater threats simmering throughout Europe during the Cold War.
