Estimation of Carbon Storage in the Biomass
English

About The Book

Tropical forests spread over an area of 13.76 million km2 account for 60% of all forests (Alain Rousteau 2010) and play a key role in the global carbon dioxide (CO2) cycle potentially offering opportunities to contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation measures (Greenpeace 2008) both in terms of carbon flows and the volume of carbon stored. Photosynthesis is a process driven by solar radiation. We are interested in estimating carbon storage in the litter biomass of the Yoko Forest Reserve in the case of monodominant stands of Gilbertiodendron dewevrei. Is there a difference between the amount of carbon stored in the litter biomass of these different stands? The choice of species is based primarily on their specific abundance with a view to determining carbon storage in litter biomass. Our work was carried out 32 km from the town of Kisangani on the left bank of the Congo River.
