About The Book

In order to acquire as much information as possible about the therapeutic uses of medicinal plants in the treatment of gynaecological diseases in women we carried out a descriptive ethnobotanical field survey of women during their consultations with gynaecologists in the Guelma commune. This study identified 18 plants belonging to 12 botanical families the most widely used of which are sage and marjoram mainly for treating late pregnancy and lavender for treating vaginal infections. Each of these species proved highly effective in its specific field of use.
