Ethnomedicinal Plants of Thar Desert : Enumeration on Some Medicinal Plants for Thar Desert and their uses

The book is based on medicinal plants grown in the extreme conditions of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan state. The plants have several metabolites like carotenoids flavonoids glucosinolates phytoestrogens alkaloids glycosides steroids essential oils colors lattices tannins and vegetable oils that make them helpful in Siddha Ayurveda Amchi and Unani from ancient times. In the desert various tribes and ethnic groups survive by using medicinal plants with their traditional knowledge. They may survive in difficult circumstances and use plants for food fodder fuel traditional remedies and a variety of other products. Brief information about some important plants was collected and added to the book. The book is helpful to students research scholars technicians and scientists working in this field. Each plant is represented by its introduction classification habitat season and climate origin and distribution plant description phytoconstituents cultivation and propagation phenological characteristics pharmacological traditional and socioeconomic uses or significance to the community. The book is written easily so that both technical and non-technical personnel can understand the subject matter.
