Assessment plays a central role in any educational process not only as a means of measuring students' achievements but also as a means of guiding teachers in adapting their teaching practices. In the Moroccan context the teaching of geography as a fundamental discipline plays a crucial role in understanding spatial environmental and social dynamics. However assessment in this discipline remains marked by a number of challenges whether pedagogical methodological or institutional requiring in-depth analysis and concrete proposals for improvement.For more than ten years as a history and geography teacher under the aegis of the French Ministry of Education and with a specialist background in educational science (PhD in educational science specializing in the didactics of social sciences and development) I have witnessed the many issues surrounding assessment in the teaching of geography.
