Evaluation of a road marking system

Horizontal signaling is one of the road elements most related to road safety as it allows the driver to keep the vehicle within the traffic lane and to plan the driving task ahead. For this reason the lack of signaling or its deterioration has a direct and immediate impact on the circulation of vehicles being a determining factor in road safety. This is materialized by road markings which consist of a set of longitudinal and transverse lines signs and symbols on the pavement surface. This article analyzes the results of the first experiences in the application of the loaded wheel test on concrete specimens on which a road marking system is applied consisting of water-based and solvent-based acrylic paints with the addition of premixed and seeded microspheres.
