EVALUATION OF AN INTERVENTION PROGRAMME IN STOMACH NURSING

About The Book

Ostomy confronts the person with changes in their daily dynamics in which life projects may have to be reoriented in search of the best quality of life (QoL). The objectives were defined as: to create and implement a program of nursing intervention in stomatherapy and evaluate its effects on adaptation and QoL of people with ostomyThe study quasi-experimental had a sample of 105 people with ostomy elimination (EOD) distributed in two groups (intervention [IG] and control [IG]) formed in hospitals with and without Stomatherapy Consultation respectively. The program was implemented by stomach nurses (TSE) in the preoperative period post-operative and follow-up. It was evaluated at the 1st and 6th month after hospital discharge through IQV-O and EAOE.Results: in the 1st month adaptation to ostomy and QoL were identical and satisfactory in both groups. At the sixth month adaptation and QoL in IM were significantly better than in CG and than in both groups at the first month. No changes were found in the GC between the 1st and 6th month. In summary systematized ETT interventions which extend over time have shown to have a positive effect on the adaptation and QoL of people with OdE.
