In this work the technical characteristics of the fibres cultivated in the settlements of Guamaré were evaluated. The coloured cotton seeds were donated from those existing in the EMBRAPA Cotton Germplasm Bank. The breeding programme sought to increase the strength fineness length and uniformity of the cotton fibres as well as to stabilise the colour of the fibres in Topaz Green and Brown shades and increase their productivity in the field. First individual selections were carried out with seed progeny testing and then the hybridisation method followed by genealogical selection to obtain variations in colour shades. The Green Brown and Topaz varieties were produced analysed and compared with the existing cotton in the region which is White cotton.
