Evaluation of Mango hybrids and selections

Based on the present findings it can be concluded that the mango cultivar Ratna Arunika and Amrapali had shown the dwarfing behaviour while the Cv. Langra showed the vigorous growth under Tarai region of Uttarakhand. The higher percentage of hermaphrodite flowers and lower per cent of fruit drop was observed in Pusa Arunima and Ambika. The Cvs. Mallika and Neelgoa were found superior in terms of fruit weight size pulp weight and pulp stone ratio while the Cvs. Amrapali excelled in terms of total sugar and carotenoides. However the long term investigation on the basis of vegetative growth flowering fruiting and qualitative parameters in different cultivars of mango need to be studied further to arrive at valid conclusion.
