Evaluation of the technical efficiency of teaching hospitals in Brazil

Teaching hospitals are the most complex health resources of the Brazilian health system in which voluminous public investments have been made and which perform the most costly and complex procedures to the system. Data Envelopment Analysis is a solid approach to measure productivity and identify productive efficiency although technical care is essential in its application. This study demonstrated the production efficiency of teaching hospitals in Brazil based on the data envelopment analysis methodology from the perspective of the Single Health System (SUS).
