This study evaluated the quality of groundwater from Nkoro community Rivers State Nigeria in order to prevent outbreak of water borne diseases. The water samples were collected from selected drinking-water sources including a hand dug well and boreholes. Water samples were collected from six different locations and were evaluated for its suitability in both wet and dry seasons using the American Public Health Association standard method for water analyses. Water quality indices (WQI) for the following seven (17) parameters were calculated such as pH electrical conductivity total dissolved solids total suspended solids turbidity biochemical oxygen demand dissolved oxygen chemical oxygen demand sulphate phosphate nitrate total hardness calcium magnesium alkalinity colour and chloride. Heavy metals and some microbial parameters showed significant differences which were above regulatory standards limits of World Health Organization (WHO) and the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON).
