Evolution of municipal Administration in Chittoor (A.P)1917-1971

Municipalities are playing an important role in providing amenities to their inhabitants. Several studies were made on the local self-governing institutions in India in general and Municipal Administration in specific. The present study on Chittoor Municipal administration and its evolution as a municipality is largely based on primary sources available in the form of office files of the Municipality administrative reports minutes of the meetings of the Municipal Council correspondence between the Municipality and Provincial Government etc. preserved in the office of the Chittoor Municipality Chittoor Andhra Pradesh State Hyderabad Tamil Nadu State Archives Chennai.
