Exergy Analysis of Regeneration in Aqueous Desiccant Cooling System
English

About The Book

In the current scenario energy demand in various fields is growing day by day with human comfort being one of the main areas affected. It is anticipated that the worldwide energy requirement for air-conditioning will triple by 2050 necessitating the need for an energy-efficient alternative. One of the primary challenges in designing and implementing various system components is to increase their performance and reduce energy consumption. To achieve this various analyses are carried out. Exergy analysis proves to be the most suitable tool for improving and optimizing desiccant regeneration systems. However performance improvement is not feasible until the main sources of exergy destruction are identified and evaluated. In this study the exergy analysis of desiccant regeneration using an aqueous lithium chloride solution over an adiabatic single polypropylene (PP) plate vertical falling film tower has been conducted to identify the components and processes in the desiccant regeneration (DR) system responsible for exergy destruction. Additionally the exergy efficiency of the DR system was calculated.
