Extraction of Uranium and Thorium Ions from Acidic Solutions

One of the main Egyptian monazite ore project targets is to find a new economical and local liquid and solid materials for uranium and thorium separation extraction and/ or purification.For this reason we thought of using chelation with heterocyclic ring systems and ion exchange resins therefore we decided to synthesize some novel heterocyclic system containing chelating groups like NH2 SH OH or C=O in addition to the synthesis of glycine modified cross-linked chitosan resin from laboratory available cheap and easily obtainable starting materials.
