Fabrication of Ceramic Membranes from Egyptian Clays

About The Book

This book reports a literature survey about ceramic membranes and then fabrication of low-cost macro porous ceramic water filters (to be used in microfiltration applications) using Egyptian clays (Aswan ball clay and Aswan kaolin) in addition to other raw materials such as potash feldspar and quartz which are locally found in Egypt. Three tubular ceramic water filters were fabricated by the slip-casting method. The raw materials and the fired ceramic membranes were characterized. The performance of the fabricated filters was evaluated by determining turbidity total coliform COD and BOD removal from tap water and El-Salam sluiceway water and also separation percentages of Humic acid and oil particles from wastewater.
