About The Book

This work deals with the use of Facebook by the communication sector of the Rio Grande do Norte Cancer Support Group (GACC) showing its work philosophy which seeks to encourage new volunteers and donors to join the organization through posts with humanitarian characteristics and the exposure of moments in which donations take place as well as the presence of volunteers and children assisted at cultural and social events. Through qualitative research analysis and observations with the use of interviews we came to the conclusion that the way the organization's communication sector works achieves satisfactory results in terms of involving more volunteers and raising more funds. This way of doing things is supported by cyber-activism which seeks support for its causes via the Internet and other media in an attempt to form a network of solidarity.
