Transmission of copyrighted work over the Internet has resulted in the introductionof a new exclusive right: the right of communication to the publicwhich was established by the WIPO Copyright Treaties. However in implementingthe Treaties different jurisdictions have their own understandingsand legislative solutions. This book examines these laws and the nature of thenew right of communication to the public. In addition copyright exceptionsare an important way to balance the relationship of interest between copyrightowners and the public by way of free uses statutory licences and compulsorylicences.
