“Factors affecting the participation of girls in technical colleges in Malawi; Case of Don Bosco Youth Institute” is the story of unearthing factors that are contributing to the low participation of girls in technical subjects like Automobile Mechanics. This story is of a case from one institution among seven Technical colleges in Malawi. The book started with giving you the situation of enrollment data segregated by gender in different courses offered in Malawian Technical colleges. The book further highlights different efforts put forward by the Malawian government and its developmental partners to encourage girls’ education. However despite several efforts the participation of women in automobile mechanics remains relatively low. The aim of the study was to explore factors that contribute to low participation of girls in technical and vocational education in Malawi case of Don Bosco Technical Youth Institute especially in Automobile Mechanics course. The study used qualitative research methodology; the design was a case study which was held at Don Bosco Technical Youth Institute at Auto-mobile mechanics department.
