FACTS devices and power oscillations

Industrialization and population growth are the factors driving a steady increase in electricity consumption. As electrical energy is very difficult to store there must always be a balance between production and consumption. Against this backdrop it is important for grid operators to have the means to constantly monitor reactive powers voltages and power transits in the lines so that the existing transmission network can be operated as efficiently and safely as possible: hence the new FACTS adaptive systems.
