Family and Psychiatric Reform

About The Book

The content of this book is situated in the field of relations between families and mental health services in relation to the responsibilities of caring for people in psychological distress in the context of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. The aim of this work is to understand the conflicts generated by family members' expectations regarding the care provided to their relatives in psychological distress by the CAPS as well as the family counterpart expected by the service in providing this care. The work combines methodological procedures of an investigative-documentary nature associated with a literature review using Michel Foucault's critical reflection on psychiatric institutions and their relationship with the family as its basic theoretical reference.
