Fatal Success

<p><strong>Fatal Success</strong> is a novella.<br>The story is set in the <strong>multiracial </strong>and<strong> multicultural</strong> context of the <strong>tropical island of Mauritius.</strong><br><strong>The Ramghunys </strong>are a very modest but solidly knit family of Indian origin.<br><strong>Balkissoon</strong> the husband is a vegetable planter while <strong>Sunita</strong> the wife takes care of the housekeeping.<br>The couple has an only child -<strong> Ramesh</strong> their beloved son.<br>The lad has always dreamed of joining the<strong> police force </strong>one day to help combat the rampant criminality.<br>In the pursuit of his <strong>dream</strong> and in spite of the limited resources of the family - he is supported by his parents who quite naturally wish for him a much better future.<br>As a bright student <strong>Ramesh</strong> successfully completes his secondary education and is enrolled in the<strong> police force.</strong><br>Climbing up the hierarchy he eventually reaches the rank of<strong> Inspector.</strong><br>But his rapid success soon turns to<strong> tragedy</strong> and<strong> bitterness</strong><br>Will the young man ever be able to get out of the gulf his success has cast him in?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
