Fear of crime in Young People: A case study of Ashbourne Community School’s Transition Year students is a book on the criminology topic ‘fear of crime’. The research for this book was one of the first pieces of academic study in the field of ‘fear of crime’ carried out in Ireland on young people. At the time of this book’s creation the topic of ‘fear of crime’ in Ireland only focused on persons aged eighteen and older. This research is centered on persons aged fifteen to seventeen. Young people's experiences and perception of crime and indeed Fear of Crime has a direct affect on their local community and shapes their view on crime. A view which may not change as they grow into adulthood. It is therefore important to record such views. It is the hope the author; that the criminology topic Fear of Crime in young people will be followed up by additional research.
