"June Makle AKA Syedha Shakur grew up in Ellicott City, MD. FEBRUARYis a story of a teen-aged girl who had her childhood stolen from her, when shegot raped by the popular neighborhood jock. The story is based on real lifeevents that occurred; however, the names have been changed to protect theidentities of those involved. Unfortunately, many teen-aged girls are raped bypeople they know and trust; but, never tell anyone what has happened to them.Likewise, those who have committed these types of offenses aren’t broughtto justice; however, they have created children which they in turn deny (donot acknowledge as their own). Ultimately, children who have been createdthrough such offenses grow up living with the shame of the reality of howthey were created. FEBRUARY has been written to help heal the wounds ofthose Women and Children who have had to live with this reality. Ms. Makleis currently developing a website for children who have been denied by theirparents so that they will have a forum to release their pain and shame; and, beable to live peaceful, happy, and productive lives."
