According to the theories proposed by feminist narratologists the narrative techniques employed by male and female authors are different. This book investigates the narrative techniques used by a Victorian woman author Marian Evans (George Eliot) in her first complete novel Adam Bede. George Eliot's narrative techniques in Adam Bede based on Warhol and Genette's theories are studied in the third chapter of the book. Chapter four on the other hand looks at Greimas ' actantial model from a feminist point of view and criticizes the female characters' actions. The positions of the female characters in the model proposed by Greimas the narratologist are indicative of George Eliot's feminist perspectives.
