About The Book

Incorporating discrete fibres into concrete is an mechanical approach to arrest cracks formation and propagation cause by the attacks from weathering and corrosive agents. This approach able to overcome the shortcoming of low permeable concrete where the cracks would continuously grow once they are initiated by the corrosive agents from the aggressive environments and weathering effects. The latter part of this book introduces encased beam concept in Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) reinforcing system. This concept provides an alternative solution to address the issue of abrupt failure which is currently occurring in the FRP reinforced beam.
