<p>It&rsquo;s important to learn about the 1960s civil rights movement from people who lived it and led it. In San Diego one person is Harold K. Brown. Mr. Brown has a long history as a volunteer civil rights and community activist. Being an activist was not fashionable or respected and challenging racial discrimination and segregation meant activists were labeled as radicals communists militants and troublemakers. Even so he proudly led San Diego&rsquo;s Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) in many protest demonstrations.</p>
