As a holistic wellness coach, it took me longer than it should have to really figure out how to manage, let alone find freedom from the awful symptoms of IBS, because I was primarily looking at the food as the culprit. Only when I opened to the possibility that there was much more to my ailing digestive system than a particular morsel I was eating did I find my way into the world of joy and ease I now know.I had all the classic symptoms. If you're here, you're probably familiar with the bloating, urgency, unpredictably, the poignant fear of eating anything, and the debilitating anxiety. Over the years I went dairy-free, gluten-free, low FODMAP, tried numerous supplements, and spent thousands of dollars on multiple healing modalities, all of which eventually failed. I was left with very few answers, an extremely limited diet, and the same awful symptoms. A lot of times something new would help at first...but only for a little while. My hopes would soar that I may have finally come to the end of a long, miserable journey, only to have my symptoms return again, sometimes worse than before. I now understand this cycle, but in the throws of it, I found it exhausting and depressing. Sound familiar?The good news is that I now live free of IBS, which is why I’ve written this book. My journey was long, but I don’t believe it needed to be.
