<p>Firaq Gorakhpuri's major achievement is to adopt and promote certain important trends and attitudes of English poetry. He is the first eminent poet of Urdu who adapted the English poetic aesthetics in the form of Urdu. Apart from this he has emphasized the possibilities of Urdu ghazal in the modern era and the continuation of the tradition of Urdu poetry. Faraq believed that continuity is the constitution of literature. And poetry is a series of sound-echoes that continue to evolve. Every present must be ahead of and superior to its past. The evolution of literature is a reflection of the evolution of society as well as a leader. If the literature of a period shows the traces of its period it also gives good news to move forward. This book is a collection of few articles regarding critical analyis of Firaq's life and work.</p><p>/</p><p>فراق کا بڑا کارنامہ انگریزی شاعری کے بعض اہم رجحانات اور رویوں کو اپنانا اور فروغ دینا ہے۔ انگریزی شعری جمالیات کو اردو کے قالب میں ڈھالنے والے وہ اردو کے اولین ممتاز شاعر ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ انہوں نے دورِ جدید میں اردو غزل کے امکانات اور اردو شاعری کی روایت کے تسلسل پر زور دیا ہے۔ فراق کا نظریہ تھا کہ تسلسل ادب کا آئین ہے۔ اور شاعری آواز بازگشت کا ایک ایسا سلسلہ ہے جو ارتقاء کے منازل طے کرتا جاتا ہے۔ ہر حال کو اپنے ماضی سے آگے بھی ہونا چاہئے اور ارفع بھی۔ ادب کا ارتقاء سماج کے ارتقاء کا عکس بھی ہے اور نقیب بھی۔ کسی دور کا ادب اگر اپنے دور کے نقش دکھاتا ہے تو اس سے آگے بڑھنے کی بھی بشارت دیتا ہے۔</p>
