Flame & Flurry

<p><em>Flame & Flurry </em>presents<em> </em>photographs taken of the Methow Valley Hand Crew during Summer-Fall of 2023. The crew a type 2 initial attack crew is responsible for responding to on-district fires as the main arm for prescribed fire management and for spending multiple weeks out of the year traveling off-district assisting on other fire assignments as dictated by need and the local Fire Management Officer. All this to say- while hotshot firefighters aka type 1 resources retain much status for their suppression efforts this book aims to represent the diversity in work and landscape associated with the lesser known type 2 crews let alone most other land management agency employees who participate in fire as it pertains to the health of the landscape.</p>
