The term folklore is composed of two words namely “folk” and “lore”; whereas the word ‘folk’ refers to people the word ‘lore’ indicates ‘wisdom’. Thus folklore can be defined as people’s wisdom or beliefs associated with the common people of a country or a speech community. The present work aims to examine folk stories in the region of Errachidia (the Sahrawi society) from a sociolinguistic point of view. This will certainly make it possible to see how people in this small community use language in their artistic creations - folk stories in particular to communicate within their speech community and how story tellers try to explain through these artistic creations questions that ordinary people cannot explain and how they bring stories into social relevance.
