Follow-up of type 2 diabetes in general practice
English

About The Book

This prospective observational study was conducted to evaluate the follow-up of our T2DM patients by family physicians. The study included 1287 patients. In our study the follow-up remained insufficient not exceeding 15% of the recommended medical follow-up and 33% of the recommended biological follow-up despite regular consultations with family doctors. The interviews and questionnaires showed that the general practitioners were familiar with the references relating to follow-up and were rather in agreement with them but that their systematic application came up against the concrete conditions of daily practice in particular with regard to therapeutic education. The observation of the deviation from the recommendations will contribute to increase the progression of diabetes and its potential consequences. Indeed there are no simple solutions to diabetes. However a coordinated multi-component intervention can make a big difference.
