A clerihew is a whimsical four-line verse of the form AABB the first line of which is the name of a famous person. By way of contrast a Japanese haiku typically comprises three unrhymed lines with seventeen syllables (575) and evokes the natural world. This personal collection of clerihews and haikus-some daft some bawdy-has as its exclusive focus the wondrous whacky world of association football. It would make an ideal (and inexpensive) gift for aficionados of the 'Beautiful Game.'
