The Non-Dalit writers have made enormous contributions as social reformers and scientific humanists to Indian literature in English by adding Dalit consciousness to it. These writers have presented the painful and realistic picture of the so-called Indian society on the best possible scale. As the title Far from Reality: A Critique of Dalit Consciousness in Non-Dalit Writers the author’s focus is to bring out the significant role of these writers in sensitizing the nation on the issue of Dalit consciousness.The present volume discusses deeply about Dalit consciousness which is one particular untouched aspect not studied comprehensively and methodically. Dalit consciousness is associated with the community. This consciousness has been aroused from confidence not from blindness. It is essentially a consciousness of revolt revolution and change. It is a concept that appears frequently in discussion of Dalit politics and identity. Dalit consciousness is surmised in two aspects namely acceptance and rejection. It is an acceptance of the essence of being a Dalit the philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar and setting up new social orders whereas it is rejection of Hinduism and the existing social order based on caste.
