Overcome by horror guilt and fear in the wake of the 9/11 attacks Detective Amanda Ross finds herself unable to return to the job. Things only get worse with the arrival of her 30th birthday as her neighbor is killed in an explosion -- leaving Amanda severely hurt and the woman's young son without a mother.
