Four Wheels for Two Legs

About The Book

Alison spent the first 10 years of her life in New Zealand before emigrating with her family to England in May 1976. Adjusting to life in England was at first difficult but Alison was as always determined to get the most out of life. Six years were spent at Dame Hannah Rogers School in Ivybridge Devon. In October 1980 following a school visit to Saltram House Alison was absolutely delighted when her dream to sleep in a four-poster bed as a guest of the National Trust could be realised. Alison continued her education at the National Star Centre - a specialised college of further education situated in the Cotswolds during 1982-1984. It is here where she met a fellow student called Larry. Alison also experienced main-stream education for the first time in her life at the age of 18 at Mid Cornwall College of Further Education in St. Austell Cornwall. Alison and Larry married in Chesterton Cambridge during October 1987. Three years later they were overjoyed when Alison gave birth to a healthy baby daughter - named Emma Louise. Throughout Alison's life she has battled with disability and illness. Thankfully though with Alison's positive attitude determination and love for life she has overcome everything presented to her - including suffering a brain haemorrhage in May 1993 which very nearly took her life. In August 2001 Alison returned (with her Emma) to New Zealand for a holiday. By doing this Alison realised a long-term promise to her grandmother prior to her grandmother sadly passing away in June 2002.
