Francis Hutcheson

<p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>W. R. Scott's book was a pioneering effort not only in the study of Hutcheson but of the Scottish Enlightenment a term that he is thought to have launched. In his work on Hutcheson as in that on Adam Smith Scott set a new standard for documentation that became the starting point for most subsequent work on the biographical and broader context for Hutcheson's thought.
