Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900)

It is rare to find another philosopher who has had such a profound impact on not only philosophical thought but also sociology psychology art literature and even pedagogy. Many major contemporary philosophers have taken various paths through Nietzsche's enormous work which could act as an Ariadne's thread without necessarily reflecting on the labyrinthine nature of his thought. The difference between these paths lies not so much in the questions but in the methodological approach and objective of the respective readings of Nietzsche. On the one hand Nietzsche was often interpreted through the lens of one's own philosophical tradition effectively prescribing the path through the labyrinth.
