From birth a new hope

About The Book

Historically cord blood was considered medical waste and therefore discarded along with the placenta. However in recent decades it has been shown to be a valuable resource of hematopoietic stem cells capable of curing serious hematologic oncologic and immune system diseases both in pediatric and adult life. This book explores through a survey of a sample of pregnant women the level of information received in birth coaching classes on the possibility of cord blood donation. The aim is to bring out awareness critical issues in the information pathway and potential for improvement with an eye toward the future of donation.
