Mona Gamal is a young Coptic Christian woman who is forced to flee her hometown of Cairo Egypt due to the events of the Arab Spring. Islamophobia is well-known in the West but the persecution of Arab Christians in the Middle East is often ignored. Coming to Canada as a refugee Mona finds herself a stranger in a strange land. Still reeling from the loss of her father Egyptian military official Mansur Gamal Mona nevertheless pushes forward. Working as a cafeteria worker at the University of Toronto she meets international student Alain Gideon a tall dark and handsome young man from Antigua. Sparks fly between them but Mona who's experienced great loss is reluctant to let an amorous Alain into her already tumultuous life. Can they work things out ? Only time will tell.
