From city image to city as image

This book gathers elements about the spectacularization of urban space in the process of transformation of the Brazilian urban space after the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.In this journey the spectacle appears as a social justification for the tautological movement of money. The fictitious capital is spatialized and space is fictionalized. The fixed capital transmutes itself into capital fixed in images.Misrepresenting Newton: Bodies only exist by watching space. Reality comes into existence after being made and mediated by the image. The process goes from abstract space to abstract space. The real abstraction abstracting reality: the real reduced to the image.The solidification of the image is the rarefaction of what is left of the city. Certain museums squares cultural and sports centers stadiums parks etc. have the capacity of elevating the city to the skies elevating some of its fragments at the same time which in the plane of imagetic discourse builds a false unity from these fragments.In the society of spectacle the cities are its scenario par excellence.
