Europe has seen its fair share of wars and battles therefore diplomacy is vital to the region's long-term security. Diplomacy has played an important part in European history and this article will examine that role examining its influence on molding European history and its relevance in settling wars in Europe. There has been a lot of talk in recent years about the importance of diplomacy in maintaining peace and stability in Europe and about the necessity for international collaboration to forestall a return to violent war. N. Tocci writes that diplomacy is a significant role in the process of constructing peace not just in the European Union but also in the broader European area in his book Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution in the European Union published in 2007.
