From the countryside to the city

The dynamics of contemporary society in rural areas have undergone a series of changes compared to the agricultural areas of a few decades ago. In view of this situation the aim of this work is to analyze the historical process of economic formation in the municipality of Horizontina-RS looking at the reasons for the decline in the importance of agricultural production as an economic activity from work to the income of the rural population. The results showed changes in the number and profile of people occupying rural areas in Horizontina the latter mainly due to the occupations of these actors which restructured the spatial configuration and the processes in place there.
