The members propose an ambitious idea—to launch a projectile from a massive cannon and send it to the Moon. They intend to do this as a demonstration of scientific and technological prowess. The story follows the planning construction and launch of the projectile named the Columbiad and the various challenges the Gun Club faces in achieving this extraordinary feat.Round the Moon:The sequel Round the Moon continues the story immediately after the launch of the projectile. It follows the journey of the three men—Barbicane Nicholl and Ardan—inside the projectile as they travel around the Moon. The novel delves into their experiences and observations during the voyage as well as their interactions and scientific discussions. The characters face challenges and uncertainties as they encounter various lunar phenomena and eventually find themselves on a trajectory that could lead them back to Earth.
