Fuzzy Decision Making: An Application to Investment Analysis

About The Book

To manage asset of an individual a financial institution or a business house it is important to take certain decisions on asset management. One may decide to invest in bank deposits or in Government bonds or in company deposits where interest rates are fixed and secured but not satisfactory. However the long standing proverb “no risk no gain” may be well-thought-out in yielding some risk for more gains. Investments in stocks inherit a lot of risks. Any sensible investment analysis requires minimizing risk while maximizing profit. To face the challenge we have developed a number of models to design a sustainable stock portfolio by introducing multi objective decision making methods and case studies using data from Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are illustrated for each of the models. Another aspect of investment analysis is to make decisions on several services such as mutual funds and banking based on some empirical data analysis. Ranking of mutual funds is a very popular tool to understand about the performance of fund. Accordingly we have developed a model to rank mutual funds using type-2 fuzzy variable and a case study is implemented to illustrate the method.
