Gamma radiation

The peanut has a very valuable protein and fat composition and therefore represents an important source of food for humans. Gamma radiation of food items particularly for items which are consumed raw is a widely used method to reduce or eliminate pathogenic microbes from the valuable nutrient containing foods.
