Gandhi Ke Bramhacharya Prayog

About The Book

Gandhi's Brahmacharya Practice

Mahatma Gandhi's life was completely devoted to his mission and values. He took the vow of Brahmacharya in 1906 which meant he renounced physical relations with his wife. Despite this he was never able to completely rid himself of the attraction and fascination of the opposite sex. He termed it 'Brahmacharya Prayog' in the later part of his life which he deeply studied and accepted as a fact. Even at the age of 57 and 69 his attempt to practice Brahmacharya was sincere yet unsuccessful. He never hid it which was a testimony to his greatness.

Questions and Analysis

This book attempts to answer questions such as - What were Gandhi's practices of Brahmacharya? What was the underlying ideology behind such practices? What were the reasons for taking up such practices? What importance did these practices have in Gandhi's life? It is based on authentic evidence and the author's opinion is that 'it is an effort to gain knowledge and think objectively about each subject without prejudice'.

Bullet Points

Gandhi took the vow of Brahmacharya in 1906

He was never able to completely rid himself of the attraction and fascination of the opposite sex

He termed it 'Brahmacharya Prayog' in the later part of his life

Even at the age of 57 and 69 his attempt to practice Brahmacharya was sincere yet unsuccessful
