Gel-Based Materials for Biomedical Engineering

<p>This Special Issue entitled Gel-Based Materials for Biomedical Engineering presents recent advances in the design fabrication and biomedical application of gel-based materials. Gels particularly hydrogels have attracted considerable attention in tissue engineering wound healing drug delivery and regenerative medicine due to their high water content biocompatibility and structural tunability. The contributions in this collection highlight a variety of gel systems including natural and synthetic polymer-based hydrogels nanocomposite gels and stimuli-responsive materials. These materials exhibit functional properties such as antibacterial activity tissue regeneration support enhanced mechanical strength and controlled drug release.
