Gender Parity

On June 06 2019 a constitutional reform to different articles was enacted in order to introduce the so-called parity in everything. Since then Article 2 of thefrom then on Article 2 of the Constitution which already established the right of indigenous peoples and communities to elect their authorities according to their own normative systems now provides that they must now observe the principle of gender parity in it. Subsequently on 13 April of this year a package of federal reforms was published including article 26 of the General Law on Electoral Institutions and Procedures which established that compliance with the principle of gender parity in indigenous peoples and communities would be achieved gradually.indigenous peoples and communities would be implemented gradually.
