The main purpose of this research was to investigate gender representation and the practice of participatory communication in KGVDP. This qualitative single–case study design employs multiple methods for data collection consisting of interviews observation focus group discussion and document analysis. The collected data were analyzed by thematic analysis where major themes were constructed from the consistent pattern emerging from coding and interpreting data. The population of the study includes managers development workers household farmers and other participants of KGVDP. Those participants were selected through a purposeful sampling technique to yield depth information about the study. The result shows interpersonal group and mass media methods of communication are significantly practiced; demonstrations meetings extension education and experience sharing are the major means of communication; there is no planned communication strategy; the organization is the main source of information; a genuine form of participation is a missing link.
